Frau Ruschhaupt und Frau Herzig, Mitglieder des Erasmus+-Teams unserer Schule und Lehrerinnen für die Fächer Wirtschaft/Politik, Sozialwissenschaften und Geschichte hatten im Februar dieses Jahres die Möglichkeit, an einem Seminar der ‚europass Teacher Academy‘ zum Thema Demokratie in Athen teilzunehmen. Dabei stand die Bedeutung demokratischer Grundsätze im Unterricht und im Schulleben insgesamt im Mittelpunkt. Gegenstand des Seminars waren Präsentationen, Selbsteinschätzungen, Gruppendiskussionen, Aktivitäten und Methoden, die sich auf den gesamtschulischen und auch inklusiven Ansatz zur Entwicklung einer demokratischen Schulkultur und eines interkulturellen Dialogs bezogen. Die inhaltliche Basis bildeten die Schlüsselkonzepte und die vier Säulen des Modells der Kompetenzen für eine demokratische Schulkultur, das auf dem RFCDC-Modell basiert. Dieses Modell wird vom Europäischen Rat für Bildung verwendet. Das Seminar wurde von Dimitris Zisimopoulos, PhD, geleitet, der das Modell mitentwickelt hat. Sehenswürdigkeiten wie die Akropolis und die griechische Nationalbibliothek in der neu errichteten Stavros-Niarchos-Stiftung waren ein zusätzlicher Gewinn für das zum Nachdenken anregende Thema des Seminars. Das Erasmus+-Team freut sich darauf, die neu erworbenen Kompetenzen hier an der GSS weiterzugeben und weiterzuentwickeln.

Ambassadors of Democracy Seminar, Athens, February 2025

Part of the Erasmus+ Team, Mrs Ruschhaupt and Mrs Herzig, were fortunate to participate in a seminar in Athens, Greece in February of 2025. Both teachers are acting head teachers for the subject of Politics, Economics and Sociology at GSS. This was a much-needed seminar that brought light to the importance of democratic principles in teaching and school life. The teachers participated in icebreakers, presentations, self-assessments, group discussions, activities, and methods concerning the whole school / inclusive approach to the development of a democratic school culture and intercultural dialogue. We learned of the key concepts and the four pillars of the model of competencies for democratic culture based on the RFCDC Model. This model is used by the European Council of Education, and the teacher-trainer was Dimitris Zisimopoulos, PhD. He is the co-author of the model. What an amazing opportunity! The course was set in Athens, the birthplace of democracy. Sights like the Acropolis and the Greek National Library, set in the newly erected Foundation of Stavros-Niarchos-Foundation was an extra benefit to the thought-provoking topic of the seminar.
